Mendoza College of Business

UX Design, Component Library, Website Design & UX Strategy

Assisting a prestigious business school in defining its customer journey and clarifying its UX objectives.

The UX design for Mendoza College of Business’s headless CMS prioritizes simplicity and efficiency for content managers while reflecting the college’s academic prestige. Tailored to support diverse content types like faculty bios, events, and research, the system ensures intuitive workflows for users with varying technical skills. Personas like marketing teams and faculty members are central to the design, enabling seamless content creation and management.

A robust component library forms the foundation of the CMS, featuring scalable, reusable elements aligned with Notre Dame’s branding. From navigation menus to dynamic page templates, each component ensures accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency. The modular approach empowers content creators to build engaging pages efficiently while maintaining the institution’s visual identity.

The system is user-friendly and future-proof through collaborative feedback and adherence to modern web standards. The result is a CMS that elevates Mendoza’s digital presence, enabling the college to showcase its excellence and engage audiences effectively.

We kicked off this UX project with an Atomic Design approach by crafting the smallest atom first, the button — because if the smallest building block isn’t rock solid, the whole design might collapse like a Jenga tower in a windstorm.

We start with the button because it’s the DNA of the design—then level up to higher-order components like Chips, Tabs, Radials and Cards until everything snaps together into a seamless, scalable component system.

Building a component library and design system gives a Headless CMS the structure it needs to grab content like LEGO bricks—organized, reusable, and ready to be published anywhere with precision.
