Brooklyn Cider House
Brand Identity, Packaging Design, Web Design
Brooklyn Cider House reclaims tradition with a brand identity inspired by Basque rituals and Brooklyn’s colonial-era love for tart ciders—raw, unfiltered, and unmistakably Brooklyn.
Brooklyn Cider House (BCH) is a multifaceted venture combining a cidery, restaurant, and upstate farm, all rooted in a commitment to authentic, dry cider-making traditions. Firehill collaborated with founder Peter Yi to craft a brand identity that reflects this dedication to quality and the brand’s Brooklyn heritage.
Our approach centered on developing a visual language that honors the Basque-inspired cider-making process while resonating with Brooklyn’s contemporary culture. We aimed to create a brand system that could seamlessly integrate across various touchpoints—from product packaging to restaurant signage—ensuring a cohesive and memorable experience.
The identity system features bold typography, a distinctive color palette, and design elements that echo the raw and unfiltered nature of the cider. We also provided comprehensive brand guidelines to empower the Brooklyn Cider House team to maintain consistency across all platforms and materials.
The result is a robust and adaptable brand identity that encapsulates Brooklyn Cider House’s unique position at the intersection of tradition and innovation, appealing to both cider enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
This wasn’t just a branding exercise—it was a full-on revival. Peter Yi, founder of Brooklyn Cider House, wasn’t content with the status quo. While most New York ciders rely on the same go-to apple (the Northern Spy), Peter went deeper. He wanted to return to a pre-temperance era of cider—bold, complex, and rooted in heritage.
So he bought a farm. Literally. And with it, began reintroducing long-forgotten apple varietals that hadn’t touched New York soil in over 165 years. Our role was to help shape a brand that could hold all that history, obsession, and craft—and still feel fresh.
